Is It Ok To Use Vaseline On Battery Terminals. I doubt the vaseline killed the battery as long as the wire terminals were on good and tight. The grease that needs to be utilized is white lithium greaseThe thought is to use the grease to the terminal after you will have related and tightened the battery cable.

In the book Electrics Afloat the author suggests using vaseline on thru deck glands to make them them waterproof but warns against getting any vaseline on the actual connections as it would act as an electrical insulator. Ive never done it because it seems like the grease would act like an insulator and impede. It has similar properties to dielectric grease.
I watched videos where they said to use Vaseline or other stuff on it afterward to prevent corrosion.
Its okay to use Vaseline on battery terminals to help prevent corrosion but you should only put the Vaseline on top of the battery terminals since Vaseline is not a good electric conductor but it will be okay on top of the battery terminals. Reconnect then smear with petroleum jelly. When you notice corrosion on both battery terminals or even one of them you usually hear many methods to remove corrosion and also techniques to prevent corrosion too. You might have heard about things like anti-corrosive sprays battery anti-corrosion washers and di-electric grease.
